  • Sen. Wyden Announces Plans to Introduce Lewis and Clark Mount Hood Wilderness Act

  • On March 25, 2004, Senator Ron Wyden (OR) announced his intention to introduce legislation to designate approximately 160,000 acres of additional wilderness in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge and in areas surrounding Mount Hood as well as designate four segments of Wild and Scenic rivers. (Story includes transcript of his Senate floor statement.)

  • Oregon's Owyhee Canyonlands Inventory Presented to BLM

  • In February 2004, the Oregon Natural Desert Association submitted its wilderness inventory findings for the Oregon portions of the Owyhee Canyonlands to the BLM's Vale District office.
     

     

    The Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail traverses Salmon River Meadows, a roadless area home to 228 native wildlife species including 31 listed as threatened, endangered or sensitive. Oregon Natural Resources Council/Nanci Champlain.
