  • Senate Energy Committee Approves California, Washington, and Puerto Rico Wilderness Bills

  • With the early introduction of a number of pieces of wilderness legislation, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee kept up the momentum by voting to approve the California Wild Heritage Act, The Wild Sky Wilderness Act and the Caribbean National Forest Act of 2005 during a mark up on February 16, 2005.
     
  • Montana-Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council Passes Resolution Supporting Protection of Southern Wyoming’s Great Divide Basin

  • The Montana-Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council composed of duly elected Tribal Chairs, Presidents and Council Members from the Tribes in Montana and Wyoming met in Helena, Montana and passed a resolution supporting the protection of cultural, wildlife and recreational resources within the Greater Red Desert and Great Divide Basin of Southern Wyoming.
     
  • New Poll Reveals Increased Public Support for Oregon's Badlands Wilderness

  • A new poll conducted by Republican polling firm American Viewpoint finds that support for a Badlands Wilderness area among Oregon’s Deschutes County voters has increased to a three-to-one margin.
     
  • Wilderness Book Notes: Ahead of Their Time: Wyoming Voices for Wilderness & Aldo Leopold’s Southwest
