In This Issue

  • Eastern Sierra Wilderness Bill Moves Forward - Senate Committee Holds Hearing on Bill

  • The Eastern Sierra Rural Heritage and Economic Enhancement Act (HR 5149/S 2567) took an important step toward becoming law on May 24, as Bush Administration officials, both of California's senators, and Rep. McKeon delivered powerful testimony in support of this conservation measure at a hearing before the United States Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests.

  • Scientists Voice Their Overwhelming Support for Wilderness Designations in White Pine County, Nevada

  • Twenty-three scientists with biological and natural resource backgrounds, mostly working in Nevada, have submitted a letter encouraging the Nevada Congressional delegation to protect the remaining wilderness quality lands in White Pine County. The scientists, recognizing the opportunity to protect some of the last remaining wild places in the region, wanted to voice their support for protecting this area.

  • Wilderness Ads Kick Off in Idaho

  • Local Idaho wilderness supporters speak out about their love of Idaho's wild public land and their hope to keep this wilderness forever protected in a new print ad campaign launched by the Idaho Conservation League and the Campaign for America's Wilderness. The ads were designed to raise awareness about Idaho's beautiful, wild public lands and the diverse group of people who support protecting these lands.
